10/12/2023 0 Comments Tomb raider celebration 20 yearsShe’s following up on some of her father’s research, and there’s somewhat of a personal story here, but I felt that it lacked a lot of heart. Rise of the Tomb Raider follows Lara as she seeks the path of an ancient prophet and something called the Divine Source. As Uncharted itself received comparisons to the classic Tomb Raider games when Nathan Drake took the stage, it’s hard to look at Rise of the Tomb Raider without drawing parallels between the two, particularly having just come off of the stunning Uncharted 4earlier this year. Tomb Raider was an awesome game, despite - or possibly because of - the comparisons to Uncharted that it received. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is a game worth playing. PS4 owners really are getting the good end of the deal here, if you can get over the whole timed exclusive bit that has finally come to an end. Sure, as PlayStation owners we’ve had to wait a full year to play this proverbial Game of the Year edition, but looking at it from the perspective of a new PS4 release? There are few other games that have released with such a content offering. The main game, Baba Yaga DLC, endurance mode, Cold Darkness Awakened were part of the season pass that Xbox owners were treated to, but there’s also the Blood Ties and Lara’s Nightmare DLC , as well as a PlayStation VR mode in Croft Manor, each newly releasing with this 20 Year Celebration. Even though in the stealth kill cut scene animation he's staring at you while your murder his friendĤ) Survival/crafting element is tacked on and seems to have no weight on actual gameĥ) Distances seem arbitrary, Lara Croft can jump what appear to be dozens of feet at a time if it fits the level you are trying to navigateĦ) The animals you are supposed to hunt kinda wander around and don't seem to respond to you in any consistent way **** if they walk next to you and your swing your ice axe you can't hit them guessĪnd I nearly forgot, if you shoot generators with a single arrow.they explodeĪll in all this game just served to remind me how much better Uncharted was and TLOU2 is.First loading up the game gives a great idea of just how much content is packed into this release as notification after notification feeds information about what comes with the 20 Year Celebration. Seriously every stealth kill is a mini cut sceneĢ) The combat is just boring, if you "stealth kill" an enemy in front of another enemy, literally if they are standing next to each other, the other enemy won't see you because it was a stealth kill. They don't seem to want you to actual play the game. Some of the more glaring examples of its mediocrity and general blah-ness -ġ) So many cut scenes, mini cut scenes and QTEs.like one every 4 minutes. I've played for about 4 hours and I'm not sure I'm going to finish. I got this when it came out for free on PS Plus this month because I enjoyed the previous Tomb Raider Game. Also a few battles were a bit frustrating when compared to the others but I can live with that.Īll in all a great and recommendable game that was worth for me to wait 3-4 years. I do not mind that much in general but this feeling definitely does not need to be this strong for part 3. However, it was a bit underwhelming that certain parts just reminded too much of moments that happened in the first game. Great snow areas, sunny forest and lake area, a few ruins here and there, definitely superb. I was a bit worried at first that the most obvious natural setting would be shown almost all the time - the snowy one - but I was really glad when I noticed it was a mix. The game plays very nicely, though I have the feeling the controls are a little bit less working than in the first game, the atmosphere the game has is just wonderful and Lara is simply "one kickass woman who rocks entirely". I also liked that my assumption about a certain character was revealed to be true in the end. This game has a beautiful setting, a pretty simple story, yet absolutely enough for what it is and does not need any more answers - except for the obvious question of what happens next in Lara's life and one, two major question that come with the end that surely is answered in the next game, but overall for the normal storyline it is fine as it is. What a great sequel to another great game.
